I was browsing a website one night I had just finished a 5 hour clan match in one of the pro divisions of enemy down i was tired and had work in the morning, then i saw this banner for poxnora and thought to myself this is looks interesting, so after a lot of reading I signed up It was overwhelming at first I headed to the training grounds which was packed with tons of players I wondered what was going on, guys like hawkfain in yellow names were in their arranging matches seems like there were tournaments with a prize for the winner, rules were I couldnt enter at that point as i was new and you needed a token to trade with so i was up all night watching these players learning the game and entered the tourney next week, and after a whole week of practising I didnt go work As I played the fs started a lot i decided to join kthx's guild and was in that for quite a long time, then kthx left and the guild started to dip and i joined a guild that samzen belonged to i dont remember the names, so after many expansions later i left pox thinking that it would always be here to come back to RakoIch , Nov 13, FlyingFinn , Nov 13, Nebron , Nov 16, Dagda , Nov 16, Thbigchief , Nov 16, Back in when I started I was 31 and there was no tutorial and no single player.

I remember many games where I taught my opponent how to deploy, move, attack and to cast spells. I really liked this fresh game I had a feel of a beginning.

I really liked the genre mix of poxnora: lore, art, levelling and customizing champs — it felt great. I've always been a mediocre player. I have to confess the only times when I hit top was first day after expansion, especially when thorn collection came out. I gave them runes, taught them but the never stayed, because they lost match after match. The only friend who stayed for a while gave up some expansions later, because he was tired of resetting his runes.

I remember my high expectations for they big revamp, our fight in the forums to retain at least a little customization of the champs and the disappointment after I realized so many of my beloved champs weren't playable at all. My favorite champ was from the beginning the little nectar fairy - welcome honey creeper - , the prototype of a fairy— swift as an arrow she caught many fonts, annoyed many opponents and always died to early And then there was the day of steam launch.

We were steamrolled by new players. For one day I thought "this is the breakthrough". Then they were steamrolled by old players. There was no plan to welcome them, no events, nothing. It was so poorly planned.

Many players tried to manage the situation, made help threads in the forums, organized the rune pools — on the whole the pox community was great, very engaged and ignored for long periods with one exception of the well organized Sokolov.

I really enjoyed playing pox, reading in the forums, sometimes posting and I will continue to play matches until the servers shut down.

I have to say this thread was extremely painful to read! Gedden , Nov 23, RakoIch , Nov 23, GemmaXylia likes this. Gaedel , Nov 23, They call me Jayaris, though you'd rarely hear it. They whisper it so quietly, that even they aren't sure.

Whether their lips spasmed or whether they spoke my name You see when I began I wasn't the God I am now, so powerful is my legend that people forgot it out of fear alone, so if you weren't born in the days when I battled my kin amongst the clouds and exploded thunder all over the lands of Poxanthura I don't judge you; I pity you, I pity that you never even glimpsed greatness and instead were forced to look upon the drab constructs that followed me.

This isn't a story of my greatness though, for you couldn't fit that in eight hundred words. This is an ode of love my friends, to my greatest PoxNora acquaintance I didn't have friends you see, Gods don't have friends, they have people they favour and the rest that they crush underfoot. It's an ode that doesn't rhyme, because I started writing an actual ode and let me tell you my rhyming is clumsy.

I don't want to show weakness; I want to show greatness; I already exude it. I first ran the game from the internet, I watched the poorly made Java graphics load up until a man grabbed an orb and it was full.

Then a gong or the like sounded and I was greeted with a black, ugly interface. Therein I thought: "Woah. Then I chose Moga, and I never lost a game after that. I decided that spells required too much thinking, and relics too much intelligent so instead I got a Tribal Post and I filled my deck with twenty-nine champions, some of them not even good.

Nevertheless, even when they brought forth the Necromoga against my own unashamedly alive Moga I proceeded to excrete in people's faces damaging their ocular nerves. Thereupon I began a ten year crusade of insulting Soulfear with mindless cursing and accusations of cross-genderism until she finally took notice of my many cool words that I was spouting. I did this with the aid of the many followers I attained: I don't remember your names, sorry.

No picture, you're a man. GG no re. Neigh friends, a man as me does not let things go. So it is that I changed my name, my face, my voice, and even my mind and on doing so I applied for a Greencard into the United States of America, using the pictures that Soulfear provided I was able to ascertain her location and join the Navy at the exact time and place that she did.

All that was left was for me to woe her in the days of training and I did just that. The only issue was, that after three years of marriage I come to the realization that I was gay. And it wasn't that Soulfear might be a woman that drove me. I fear, that after it all it was the belief that she was a man that propelled me ever forward, perhaps I should have known when my plan involved joining the Navy.

Jayaris , Nov 23, Too many typos, don't believe you're Jay still good read. Dagda , Nov 23, Guy, all I'm sayin is I hope you find a good editor. Dagda , Nov 24, Dag's a nub. That is all. Schmacko , Nov 24, Thbigchief , Nov 25, The rumble from the peaks, the birth of the moga deck, was just starting when I got here.

Saw a banner ad on a webcomic I used to read alot, and the game seemed interesting enough. I sauntered over to the website, and started to read. I saw: -Units worth point values: Cool, kinda like warhammer I think point caps could have been well used back in the day but sneh -Fully customizable champions: Neat, I can up attack, defense, speed, everything changes the cost of the champion too.

This really is like warhammer. Where the crap do i sign up on this website? I played for years, wrote fan fiction, formed not one, but two influential guilds. First I helped form the SLers with a few old dragons. Then I broke away to form the Sons of Battle which held some of the highest ranking players for a time. I also spent way too much time role playing in the SL forums. I was there when the Draksar archer was THE ranged unit. I was there when we could name our champs, or give them taunts.

I was there when we only ha 20 rune decks, and the rune dock was kept at the top of the screen and we could reveal them by choice. I was there when Skeezic cannoneers were introduced and the meta went nuts.

I was there when SP players realized they could dominate the meta game with all champion moga decks. I was there when the game was owned by Octopi. I was there when the entire customization aspect of the game was destroyed, and replaced by an extremely simple pick two system. The rest of us who loved the original games customization packed our bags then.

I was there when all the greens were personable people, who laughed, joked, and cried with us. Who dedicated their lives every day not to make sure they made money, but to make sure they had the best damn game they could make, and that their players enjoyed what they had. And that was a Warhammer meets Magic table top strategy game, that was as fun to customize as it was to play.

I will never forget my days with this game in its inception. The days of the shattered peaks expansion. Maybe Im just old, maybe I just hate change, but to me, the game as I found it was the perfect game. Pox Nora will likely never return to its 40k meets magic roots, even though the original team is taking back what is theirs, but I am glad to see that if this game IS on its last legs, that it goes out with the people who truly loved it.

I for one, patiently watch, waiting to see what, if anything, changes once desert owl takes over. I do not get my hopes up, but the glimmer of what once was is still here. If anyone can bring it back to its full glow, its Desert Owl.
